Il 18 aprile del 1975 per le vie di Firenze si sfila per la morte di Claudio Varalli. Le realtà presenti in piazza sono tante, dagli studenti, all’ANPI, al PCI; i primi si muovono in corteo durante la mattinata, mentre la manifestazione generale cittadina parte nel tardo pomeriggio.
Già dalla mattina l’obiettivo è chiaro: raggiungere Piazza Indipendenza, dove si trova la sede del MSI. Al primo tentativo di avvicinamento seguono immediatamente le cariche della polizia. Nel pomeriggio, dal corteo partito da Piazza Santa Croce, alcuni compagni cominciano a staccarsi a piccoli gruppi e a dirigersi nuovamente verso Piazza Indipendenza: iniziano violenti scontri con polizia e carabinieri schierati a difesa della sede del MSI. A questo punto l’ANPI, per evitare gli scontri, sposta immediatamente i compagni in Piazza S. Marco per il comizio. Al termine riprendono gli scontri con la polizia, che si protraggono fino a tarda sera in tutta la zona. Rodolfo Boschi, impiegato dell’ENEL, fa parte da tempo del servizio d’ordine del PCI e durante il concentramento per la manifestazione dell’ANPI partecipa al presidio delle strade che conducono alla sede del MSI.
Sono ormai passate le 23:00 quando Boschi, con altri compagni, e Francesco Panichi, militante di Autonomia Operaia, vedono un gruppo di 9 agenti in borghese intenti a picchiare un ragazzo a terra; subito cercano di correre in suo soccorso insieme, ma dal gruppo parte il primo colpo. Rodolfo, Francesco e gli altri scappano, ma l’agente Basile prende la mira e spara ripetutamente, uccidendo Boschi e ferendo Panichi.

Rodolfo Boschi, 28 years old, employee E.N.E.L.
On April 18, 1975, he paraded through the streets of Florence for the death of Claudio Varalli. The realities present in the square are many, from the students, to the ANPI, to the PCI; the former move in a procession during the morning, while the general city event starts in the late afternoon.
Already from the morning the goal is clear: to reach Piazza Indipendenza, where the headquarters of the MSI is located. The first approach attempt is immediately followed by police offices. In the afternoon, from the procession that started from Piazza Santa Croce, some comrades begin to break away in small groups and head back to Piazza Indipendenza: violent clashes begin with police and carabinieri deployed in defense of the MSI headquarters. At this point the ANPI, to avoid the clashes, immediately moves the comrades to Piazza S. Marco for the rally. At the end, clashes with the police resume, which last until late in the evening throughout the area. Rodolfo Boschi, employee of the ENEL, has long been part of the order service of the PCI and during the concentration for the ANPI event he participates in the garrison of the roads that lead to the headquarters of the MSI.
It is now past 23:00 when Boschi, with other companions, and Francesco Panichi, a militant of Autonomia Operaia, see a group of 9 agents in plainclothes intent on beating a boy on the ground; immediately they try to run to his rescue together, but the first shot starts from the group. Rodolfo, Francesco and the others run away, but Agent Basile takes aim and shoots repeatedly, killing Boschi and injuring Panichi.
