Viene ucciso il 14 Dicembre a Roma. Prisco, che ha sostituito all’ultimo momento un collega, sta guidando l’auto di scorta del vicequestore Alfonso Noce, responsabile dei Servizi di sicurezza per il Lazio (il nucleo regionale dell’antiterrorismo). L’auto viene assalita da alcuni terroristi dei Nuclei Armati Proletari appostati in un furgone.
I nappisti scendono dall’automezzo e danno vita a un conflitto a fuoco. Un colpo di mitra raggiunge la tempia di Palumbo. L’agente muore mentre era ancora al volante dell’auto.
Nello scontro perde la vita anche il terrorista Martino Zicchitella. Restano, invece, feriti il vicequestore Noce e un altro agente della sua scorta.
Due donne che avevano partecipato all’agguato verranno catturate l’anno successivo dopo una sparatoria con i Carabinieri.
